Re: Volgren Optimus Scanias Melbourne Airport
Most companies buy their perfect bus given most stick with the same layout, bodies and chassis manufacturers with every order. The problem is that it might be perfect for them but not perfect for its actual purpose and functionality as a public transport vehicle. Like it or not, both current State ...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
Does anyone know anything about the typical three tone next-stop chime used on almost every Admet bus? I'm wondering the reason it has been mandated for government purchased buses and the manufacturer/model for these bells? I notice that whilst Brisbane also have a different 'customised' next-stop b...

Re: CDC Victoria Group news July - December 2013
If that's the case then how do you explain Eastrans getting one in PTV livery (as stated above)? Not too sure... But then again I was told that by a worker of CDC, so I would imagine It probabaly has something to do with the code being subsidized by the government, and could also have something to ...

Re: CDC Victoria Group news July - December 2013
Rode on brand new Westrans Altona #139 (Volvo B7RLE) on route 412 just now. Interesting that she hasn't been delivered in the PTV livery unlike the other recent B7RLE's. Was it ever expected to be? A lot of people assumed that all new buses would be delivered to CDC in PTV livery (not saying you ar...

When's the next tender open for the next order of buses? Soon I hope, but my guess is probably not for a couple if years.... Hopefully by then, the government will realise their mistake and improve the quality regardless of manufacturer.

Re: MAN 12 series chassis
Most likely the case as MAN don't supply most of the chassis that NZ have to many other countries. UK has the odd early 00s 14.*** and 12.*** which coincidentally, some have ended up in NZ. E.g. At the moment, the 16.250 and 18.250 chassis is available in NZ, but the most that Australia gets is the...

MAN 12 series chassis
Hi, I have done quite a lot of searching and to my dismay have found nothing, so I've decided to ask the question here in the hope that someone knows the answer or could direct me onto someone who does. My question is were the MAN 12 series chassis (12.220 etc) built/assembled in New Zealand, or was...

Did anyone manage to get a recording of such a unique bus? And also did it have the older OSC9 engine (fitted to the L94UB's, or one of the newer K230UB's modified with CNG parts supplied from Sweeden?
Cheers!

Re: CDC Victoria Group news January - June 2013
Unless I'm thinking of something different, one of the ex-CNG O405N's still has the old CNG tanks on the roof (which were quite small, if I'm thinking of the right thing), and I often mistook it for an air-conditioning unit until I found out what it was. He might be mistaking the Coachair a/c unit ...

Re: Dyson Group news January - June 2013
Dysons have taken over the operation of the local Kyneton town routes from Organ's Coaches. This change apparently dates back to November 2012. The PTV Kyneton timetables still show Organs as the operator of these services. Regards, Dennis What bus are they using? I've noticed Organs MAN midi is up...

Re: Tas Scenic Tours (Scania K113) - for 8 SPEED
If it's running on LPG spark plugs would of been installed and the compression ratio lowered, right?
Also would anyone happen to have a recording of it running on LPG? I'm just interested to see what it sounds like.
Cheers!

Hi, I'm venturing to Sydney next week to stay for four days. My main purpose is to ride the Sydney Bus Museum's buses running on Australia Day. But, In the days leading up to it, and the day after I plan to ride some of the current buses in operation around Sydney. As this is my first time in Sydney...

Wouldn't the government make more money out of selling them, rather than scrapping them like STA? It is a shame to see them go.

Re: Overweight Drivers
Good idea, only one probem I can think of... If Metro are going to pay for people to loose weight then you might get other drivers gaining weight to not have to work! The only thing I can think of if if Metro lowered the drivers wages by say $8 dollars an hour whilst they were on the program, and th...

Castlemaine bus lines have a new bus! Spotted in Bendigo today at around 3:30 pm was a BCI Classmaster 14.5! Still plain white at this stage, no fleet numbers and it was too far away to get the rego as well. Looked good though, for a BCI !

Why do the 18 metre Scania K310UA metrobuses have higher roofs? Is it something to do with it being articulated? Thanks Sta wanted them to have a Futuristic Railcar look to them.
