Re: ADELAIDE LOOKS TOWARDS PRIVATISATION
Exactly and that's the saddest part. Desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose!

Re: ADELAIDE LOOKS TOWARDS PRIVATISATION
I don't know how to feel about this. Kinda sad, kinda funny that I half predicted something like this. I also made the same post on Wheels On Steel - Palpatine is/was my username on there.

Re: [May/Jun 2018] SA Transport observations
To be honest, I have no idea. It would be my guess. I'm only going by what was posted on elsewhere by individuals who are usually reliable or "in the know"

Re: [May/Jun 2018] SA Transport observations
Just rode on repainted 3029 rail car...does anyone know if this has a new engine? It was grunting like a Vline velocity when the leading power car this morning, very noticeable and felt like it had faster acceleration. Could just be a mechanical fault though i genuinely believe it was a very differ...

Waiting for the Liberals to announce that due to these cost blowouts and delays they can't put a right turn in....

Re: 3012
Don't think the 3000s will be converted anytime soon, but I daresay DPTI may be trying to go for a uniform livery on the railcars. Given the Citadis trams are also in the red livery, maybe the Flexity's will eventually get a new paint job.

Re: Will trolleybuses return?
Until Wellington recently closed their system, Wellington had recently upgraded overhead as well as fairly modern vehicles.

Re: Will trolleybuses return?
Because if you're going to go to that length then may as well have a tram instead. As much as it pains me to say this because I love the tangle of the overhead wires, but with modern technology we are steadily moving away from a need to have overhead. Sydney's new tram extension is an example of that.

Re: Will trolleybuses return?
I always thought about Trolley Buses on the O-Bahn. But the question with that is can a Trolley bus get to the same speeds on the O-Bahn.
By the time you look at the cost - a tramline would be better. (not on the O-Bahn)

I'd hazard a guess the image is the original artists impressions of a very early one. They use a similar or the same image for the Outer Harbour Train-Tram plan.

Bit of a different transport observation here....
Spent the weekend in Adelaide and noticed most of Salisbury Highway and South Road has now had it's route number changed from A13 to A9 and Google Maps also has VH Road as A9 as well.
Does anyone know anything about this change? Thanks!

The whole tram to Footy Park thing was reliant on football staying at FP long term, and was planned well before the move to Adelaide Oval. I thought they quietly scrapped it sometime after that?

Afternoon Tim I must apologise for my initial response. Your initial comment probably could have been worded better. 30million years is a long time....Lol. Anyways, I digress. I must wholly agree with what you say. Millions are being spent on a tram extension to a Hospital that will soon be closed (...

Re: Tram planning as part of a bigger public transport pictu
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Imagine if the argument against closing the network (which was successfully used in Melbourne despite the same argument for closure being used) worked. Would have saved the State billions. Sigh. Or, even closing down some of the quieter routes while keeping the major ...

I remember when they first extended the Glenelg line from Victoria Square to along North Tce, they found lots of old MTT rails and sleepers. Not sure where they ended up.

Re: Ex Adelaide Metro Buses
2. I can answer. Usually the Government or Operator will put them up for tender, there are several sites worth checking out such as Gray's Online or Evans & Clarke. Sometimes it may pay to even contact the individual operator or DPTI to find out. I only say this because when EDSA/DECS retired th...

Re: [July/Aug 2017] SA transport observations
Just out of interest, Phonj mentioned the changes to conditional registration scheme. As someone who owns an ex DECS school bus with the intention of keeping it in preservation (but want the pleasure of having the luxury of taking it out for a spin whenever I feel like it) what does the CRS involve?...

Re: MAN 11.190 in Port Pirie.
It gives Port Pirie a decent local bus service that takes people from the "suburbs" of Pirie to do their shopping. I wouldn't say it's a cast off at least it's something. You do realise that this particular bus is on loan to Spencer Gulf Coaches who in turn run this service, probably witho...

Re: City Tram Extension Stage 1
As much as I love the idea of bringing trams back, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Also, why are they building a tram that terminates at the old RAH, when they could have sent them up to Adelaide Oval and have a service that will see decent usage.
