Re: AIRPORT EXPRESS BUS

I think you will find that the Airport Express was deliberately killed off by Government interference. The service had been provided by the STA since around 1983 and operated out of Port Botany depot. It operated for about 16 to 18 hours per day and ran seven days per week. The bright yellow/blue/b...

Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services (as from 20

Should the STA observations and private observations threads be merged into one single NSW bus observations thread from next year or should it wait till the STA contract handovers happen Maybe in the near future observation threads are based on region not operator? i.e. Greater Sydney observations,...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

The Sydney and Intercity trains timetable online is now available on every lines. Here's a T5 timetables: https://transportnsw.info/documents/timetables/93-t5-cumberland-line-20200105.pdf With no T6 Carlingford Line on the map. Noted on weekends the T5 now sits idle at Parramatta for at least 4 min...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

What is the fare situation going to be? Is the fare band for light rail going to change to bus as advised some years ago or are they going to keep the light rail band an introduce a $2 intrechange discount between ferries and light rail to cover interchange at Circular Quay? I suspect there are som...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

Any updates as to the opening of the CSELR? There is still no public announcement on any transport websites such as transportnsw.info; so I believe 7 Dec is now not the opening date, but more likely the weekend of the 14th or 21st of December would be a reasonable assumption for the opening date. Operating light rail to CQ for NYE? Nah, cut it to Central Anyone who has ever been into the CBD on Ney Years Eve and seen the chaos that occurs will understand why. Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

With still no announcement it appears that a date of 7th December is starting to look pretty slim. Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

1) there are no PIDs near the ends of the platforms to identify which tram will leave next. When trams are parked in the roads, you can't see across to the platform PIDS at all. This seems really unfriendly- the vast majority of people boarding will want to immediately know which platform has the n...

The Haymarket bus stop has given some hints of destinations mentioning Parramatta Rd to name a few. Looks like the stop outside the Barlow street may close with the routes being directed here. But no word if the routes still start from Martin Place or terminate at Haymarket

Saw an 893 from UNSW this afternoon heading in to Central along the tram lines. I wonder if this is to become a regular occurrence? Some sections of the light rail corridor are also a bus lane i.e. http://data.sydneylightrail.transport.nsw.gov.au/s3fs-public/KINGSFORD%20-%20ANZAC%20PDE%20BETWEEN%20...

So odds on who will pick it up?

Doubt it will be transit systems. Maybe a runoff between CDC and Transdev unless a international operator (first group?) joins the mix

Somebody check if transurban wants to join the bus market

Do we think there will be any farewell events for the line (F1 runs or something) - or kept low-key? I'd certainly like to head out and travel the line while I can considering I never have before. At this stage it is proposed that F1 will operate a number of shuttles on the Carlingford line prior t...

Well they aren't averse to changing line designations, so I'd expect a reshuffle that could include moving every subsequent number over by one or just make T9 T6 as it's the newest and highest number anyway. 9 and 6 aren't so different, so it won't take long to get used to it. If anything it's an e...
