Re: OC500 disposal

It really makes me feel older now that I see 0405s in the hands of private operators picking the kids up from school swimming etc, now they are getting rid of the 500s I've really seen it all now.. I remember seeing the first new 0405s trickling onto the roads back in 1999 and thinking how sleek and...

Re: Farewell O405NH CNGs

Man, this is so uncanny that the buses lasted in service for 22 years and still look like they are less than a decade old, but sad and emotional because they really represent the last of the line of the line for oldschool Merc buses/ first of the line for kneeling and higher tech designs with much m...

Re: Perth Transport Costs (Perthnow)

There's just no comparison. Especially when you can be on the buses for over 4 hours, make over 5 transfers, go to the other side of the city and back to the coast, and still spend less than $10 / proably less than 5 on concession .. You'd burn 2 to 3 times the amount in fuel doing the same journey ...

Re: Mercedes-Benz O 405 NH Tour (Ft. Diesel + CNG) - 28/07/2

Where will these be sold?
One would think they would be sold in a job lot to another country like New Zealand?
I doubt they want such new tech buses getting into the hands of private operators just yet...

I could be completely wrong! but we shall see..

Re: CNG High-Floor Bus Farewell + CNG Surprise

This seems to be a good point to emphasize that the MTT / Transperth & now the PTA have always been very supportive of the bus preservation movement in Perth. Indeed. She's always been one of my favourites of the last of a dieing breed, since the 0305's were withdrawn en masse . Even the Renaul...

Re: CNG High-Floor Bus Farewell + CNG Surprise

Is anyone taking 1133 into Preservation?? Has any consultation been made? DO transperth know that the preservation community would be interested in this bus? I mean, it IS probably one of the most talked about Renaults and one of the (was) stars of a now pretty bland fleet.. Shame if it gets broken ...

Re: B8 Volvo artic feedback please.....

Thats why most of the TransWA long distance coaches use manual transmissions still I guess.. Having said that, I can't believe Dual Clutch or IVT / Continuously Variable transmissions haven't caught on in truck / bus markets yet. I had a go at driving a John Deere tractor with a ZF IVT transmission ...

Re: Perth and Peel@3.5million

I reckon there should be 3 different circle routes that come on line at night after normal services finish (say between 10:30 to 11:30) and run until they resume again ( say 4:30 am?) on weeknights and saturday nights. They all go through the city at some stage and have 1 covering southern suburbs, ...

Re: Transperth service changes

Does anyone know what is the deal with the stand changes at the busport? This may be old news to alot of members here, but it seems that they have put their most frequently used services right at the other end of the terminal. I know, shut up and do the exercise, but is this in place due to some ong...

Re: Transperth Train happenings

Why do they say the motors can't handle the short distances bnetween stops running on freo line, yet the distance between esplanade and perth is shorter than most of the hops on the 3 oldest suburban lines. When south perth opens, that will mean a 4 stop bunch-up where they are supposedly putting th...

Gee, do you ever wonder how much they actually get paid to put the adverts on the buses versus how much the vinyl costs? and does the operator get the money or does it go to the govt?

Methinks the model A ford has got something like a modified flathead v8 or a smallblock ford or chevy although they've kept it looking stock from the outside. I mean you wouldnt want a stock one around at 90 with the cable operated brakes ('juice' brakes or hydraulic didn't come out until the 1940 m...

Re: New Infocentre at Roe Street Bus Station

I'mn just fed up with all the changes to street directions and closures. Especially when they change their mind again 18 months down the track. And the marina should have never happened, when it gets silted up every six months due to lack of tide through flow that'll give them a bit of cause for con...

noisy? the noisiest things are (as reluctantly as I say it) the Volvo artics. My friend lives in Yokine, a couple of blocks back from Alexander Dve, When there is one at the lights on a summers day with both of the a/c units going flat out, I can tell what sort of bus it is by ear

2016 meaning actually late 2017 / into 2018 once all the teething problems are fixed.. but hey, i'm an optimist. I'm just getting sick of this constant harlem shuffle 'improvements' the city always decides to make and then changes it's mind ten years later.
