Re: Victorian Timetable & Route Changes 2018
Quick glance at the timetables for 26/8. Not a huge difference in peak on the Mernda line - however a fair few additional shoulder peak services. Poor weekend (esp 40 mins Sunday morning) and off-peak frequencies remain, which is not great given how Sydney has managed to take steps in the right dir...

Re: 2017 review of Public Transport: Victoria
It's whinging, plain and simple - expecting trains or services to be overserviced just to satisfy armchair transport experts untested anecdotal evidence regardless of the reality that exists that a train in a siding can't just magic into a service, nor should it. There are greater, far greater issue...

Re: 2017 review of Public Transport: Victoria
To counter the whinging: Unless you suddenly magic a bunch of drivers out of nowhere and I'd like to think the armchair experts up above would see the inherent problems with underskilled drivers or fatigued staff, you're not going to get frequencies less than the 3-4 minutes at 9pm on a Sunday to ca...

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram Observations 2017
Bus related: Over 30/11 to 4/12, Burnley signalbox was closed and newer signals were installed. To do this, there was a five day shutdown from Parliament-Camberwell and Darling. On the Friday 30/11 morning, there was a significant shortage of buses - reports indicated 50+ buses less than required. T...

Aside from the houses at the rear of the elevated rail section from the up side of Victoria Park to the down side of North Richmond. Which has been there for how long now?

Trains aren't held at Burnley for connections between Glen Waverley and Camberwell except in very rare circumstances.

Re: PT users give 60% approval rating to Melbourne PT system
Man, I love clueless foamers who whine petulantly about things that don't actually occur. Camberwell does use all three platforms off-peak. Alamein shuttles arrive on platform 2 on the up. The only time they don't is after 20:30 - and they rarely "get in the way" as much as the perpetually...

Re: Mon.29.5.17 Metro 'meltdown'
Addressing the whinges of 'Roderick Smith' Yes, failures did occur frequently. Fault-finding takes time, fitters can't be everywhere at once. My actual experience is that Metrol get the word out as soon as it happens, so don't know where you're pulling that from. Takes a while to organise safely ret...

Wait till that arrogant official tries to buy a burger at a fast-food joint which has gone cashless: 'No, we can't sell you a burger; you should have topped up your burger card online before leaving home'. I find the propensity of Melbourne burger joints to refuse to sell a burger to a person who s...

Tunnel height isn't the issue on the Clifton Hill lines. The two tight curves are.

Re: Mon.29.5.17 Metro 'meltdown'
V/Line trains will be held for Metro trains. Rare to see MTM blaming V/Line, normally it's the other way around.
Biggest problem is MTM are rent-seekers and this shows in the poor state of the infrastructure, as everything is geared to maxmise profit out of franchise payments with minimum spend.

Re: Mon.29.5.17 Metro 'meltdown'
Some corrections. 1) Rule 1 Section 3 does not now require a driver to actually speak to a person. The driver leaves their details & train's details on a message bank after a prerecorded message. 2) Not all Home signals need a caution order (the paperwork you reference) and caution orders can be...

Spotted today was a D1 tram running in service along Melville Road on a route 58 to Toorak, followed closely behind by an out of service Z3 unit. Unfortunately I didn't catch fleet numbers. Are low-floors starting to make their way onto the 58 now that more and more E-class sets are entering servic...

Alamein and Hurstbridge are terminating stations as well, they were never given premium status.
