Re: Scania K112 overheating advice needed

G'day Marty, looking back several decades we found with RE vehicles that as they aged & everything no longer new & spic that we needed to be more aware of airflow as all of the things that you have looked at don't work as they did when brand new. Looking at your pictures you need to fill in ...

Unfortunately there can never be another like it, mores the pity. For Tasmanian roads there has not a better coach built, they were unreal in service.

Re: Which Vehicle Is It - Tasmania

Doesn't look like this forum carries any interest so I will answer it myself in case someone out there that doesn't know much about Flxies & is wondering what the answer may be. Its "AF 131" the very last Clipper to ever be built by Ansair. Built for Green Coach Lines (Fleet No.65) of ...

Re: New 284 page Tasmania Transport book

As I stated previously interesting books full of old information. I have just finished reading the last book 1950 - 1965 has some great pictures just a pity that the writer didn't research some of his details a little better. Don't take all he states as gospel because there are some blatant misinfor...

Re: AF22 - Green Coach Lines #53

Two stories received on hearsay many years ago about the Cummins when GCL owned them: 1.On a good day with the wind blowing from the north you could hear the Cummins departing the southern end of Campbell Town if you were in Ross, 2. One day departing Hobart via Elizabeth St, as the coach approached...

G'day Neil,
The book is also available to borrow from "Linc" (the State Library) for those that can't afford/justify to purchase it for one read. I've put one on hold & am waiting in anticipation for it to arrive at local library soon.

Your picture is most likely of a coach built by Mees as is the one in this picture. They were certainly a bit different but had a look of their own.

Thanks for the comment Denv12, I think that your thread will cover the subject very well for all variations of a great "AUSTRALIAN" builder of what were very robust & well designed coaches that are missed in this day of built to price modes of transport vehicles. I look forward to foll...

Hi Tim. Thats a great history there.I wonder how many know about that.It could also be the missing link in the history of the company moving into building their own chassis. If you have any photos and further history could you start a fresh topic to devote to the topic please? It deserves a topic on...

I think I may owe Leyland Clippers an apology, I mistook his observation to relate to the clipper parked at the rear of the Harrington St Depot in Victoria St, which was D103 (AF131),But I believe he meant the clipper & sideloader pictured at Bothwell, in which case he was absolutely correct it ...

Re: David Lidster photos

By my reckoning the Clipper is AF # 35. original Fleet # was D27, build date 02-54. First rego # was WXP 360. Was originally operated by Greyhound before TCL acquired it. It's original engine was a Leyland which may have been the 7.4L motor that powered the Matilda tanks. Dragging this oldy up to d...

Any Redline pedigree in this Commer coach.Picture from the Ken Magor collection Hi Bedford-29, Not ex-Redline. My first thought is it's a Denning built for Cobb & Co.... That's the exact grille treatment and header design that Denning applied to those early Commer based builds for the Boltons, ...

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches

Hi Timbo52, Brings back some memories Tim... The bare bones of the history is that this coach was a new build for Redline in 1963, by Athol Hedges, Brisbane. As you say, a Ford Thames Trader REC, and went into service with Redline as fleet No 37, operating Tassie tours for much of its life with the...
