Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

Amid all of the discussions about metro extension to Bankstown, what seems to be far less discussed are the bus changes associated with metro extending into the City. One of such that comes to mind: will routes like 288 be curtailed and more local route options provided to connect to former ECRL sta...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

Sydney Metro has 4 weekend closures in March, 2 in April and 2 in May. This is just awful. Sydney Metro's parent company MTR opened various extensions in its home country Hong Kong (East Rail Line, Kwun Tong Line, Island Line) and all of them opened without disrupting the existing service to...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.

I've always wanted to know why the so-called 'shopper hopper' routes exist and when they were introduced - unlike with Metrobus, NightRide or T-Way routes there seems to be very limited information on their purpose. I remember there used to be an S8 service that seems to have been renumbered 709, b...

Not really, back then before the Libs came in and blew up the joint, Blew up the joint in what ways? From a customer persepctive, there's only been increases to train services everywhere since they took over in 2011. Unlike the previous Labor crew who were in power for 16 years, with their only att...

In Japanese scenarios, they have underground stations that don't have straight platforms, but the guard is able to perform door closing activities safely with the cameras and screens available.

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

That second last paragraph has me puzzled. It's an error, Erskineville and St Peters will be served by T4 services making additional stops. A shake up of the line numbers is on the cards, with one suggestion being that the T3 designation will be used for all stops services from Hurstville that will...

Re: Bus Observations 2023

The terminus in both directions is shown as being in Joynton Ave, although it think buses go up Epsom Rd to turn around at the roundabout. This has been the situation for quite some time. I would guess that GREEN SQUARE is replacing ZETLAND as the destination? I suspect with the 10/12 changes, Gree...

Re: Bus Observations 2023

Speaking of hard to read destination boards, some of the Keolis Downer Northern Beaches Volvo B7RLE Bustech buses have destinations that previously showed destinations in "all caps" (eg. CHATSWOOD, MANLY) but now for some inexplicable reason use what appears to be a smaller font and mixed...

Similarly, how does Metro West relieve overcrowding on the T2 Leppington via Granville line, when there is no direct interface between them? The T2 services from Parramatta would be used by those going to Inner West destinations on that line, which Metro West doesn't service. The only benefit for t...

Most or all improvements appear to be at the expense of other routes so a reallocation of resources with probably no need for extra. Are they are still running a reduced timetable? 433 and 504 improvements appear to be caused by reallocation from the 431 and 504X respectively. 389, 438X, 442 and 47...

What period did M do the 530? I thought it was extraordinary seeing their buses go to Kingsford. Now I learn they went to Burwood via Five Dock and Paramatta Road. And anyway Leichhardt does not run the 530.
I don't keep up with who does what these days as it's changed so much.
Leichhardt has never run Route 530. In the STA days, it was shared by Burwood and Willoughby, but once Region 6 got passed to Transit Systems, it's stayed with Burwood.

Re: Rail Observations 2023

That sort of thing is always a juggling act. More service for some passengers is a slower trip for others. And the whole purpose of doing what was done in 2013 was so that shorter trip customers don't take up room on services which travel all the way out to Waterfall/Cronulla, making those customer...

Re: New Sydney and Outer Metro bus contracts (as from 2020)

I've always been surprised that M90/M91/M92 weren't split and rebranded something else during 2019 when the Metro Northwest line opened (and a stack of metrobus routes were rebranded that year). Now wondering what they'll call the M90 if it's ever rebranded. Route 900 is of course, currently in use ...
