Foley was God awful. Every bit as bad as Beasley. Neither could stomach having any sort of policy.

^ Swift, I feel that you might be completely wrong here. Perhaps just optimistic thinking but I think you are too negative here. Jodi McKay never made an impact as opposition leader, happy to give another a go.

Re: Political discussion

With Jody McKay op leader, it's another assured LNP win. Interesting comment now that she's gone. She didn't seem to cut through but I don't really know why or if anyone could do any better? State Labor are still strongly hated for the dithering on the NWRL especially? Surely we need to move on rat...

simonl. Can you provide a URL of a grouped timetable? Sure: https://transportnsw.info/trip#/departures?depart=2000171&type=platform&accessible=false&dateTime=202105261945&arrive=200020 Although that shows every 5-6 minutes. Something isn't quite right, perhaps I stuffed something up...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

No. Look at the combined L2-L3 frequency on George St. Don't just look at one of the timetables and then say 10 minutes wait, there's plenty wrong with the light rail, but the frequency isn't that bad on the combined George St section (unless it's delayed). I did do that. The timetable groups the t...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

Err, no. Check the timetable, tonyp. Light rail shows 10-11 minute gaps in the evening today and the same on a weekday. Buses wouldn't see such large gaps normally. Regarding capacity, I wasn't commenting on that, I was commenting on the effect on actual users.

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

Any thoughts on how George Street is for the people on the street compared to pre-light rail? This point is valid, although it did and does have plenty of underpasses. The major problem with the street was the taxis and politically, one may not have been able to remove them without the light rail. ...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

In case anyone is interested, having used this along George St a number of times, I don't find it at all convenient. Journey times are similar to the buses it replaced, you have to walk further to the stop, frequency is more than an order of magnitude lower. It doesn't succeed on any rational criter...

Re: Parramatta light rail

Multiple routes are good for contingency Death to your feeble plan! Have less routes but with more frequency. More people understanding the system and less confusion. Regarding the Wentworth Point bridge, the 526 covers that. Why not increase that? Also, why chop off Burwood-Strathfield from the 52...

Parramatta Council deserve to be voted out for screwing up the traffic. Not least of the problems is the ban on right turns at Horwood Pl/George St since George St went two way.

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

I’m not really sure about your point regarding expresses that branch off the main route and then stop at all stops. How much journey time do you think the old X15 or X18 would have saved if it was limited stops once off Victoria Rd? And how would you continue serving those other branch stops (not s...

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

Simonl - what cultural problem are you referring to? I am saying that peak hour trips should serve predominantly limited stops with only a few services stopping at the minor stops on the major corridors like Victoria Rd. Services like the (former) X00, X15, X18, X92, X94 etc serving all stops once ...

Yes, it will.

That map only shows the 500x, not the 500n.

Swtt, yeah, seems there is a cultural problem there. Doesn't it actually affect all Xnn and Enn routes?

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

I suppose the X15 stopping pattern isn't exactly optimal - all stops after Lyons Rd on outbound, including stops the M52 doesn't serve. What are they thinking? I guess a lot of cases you can apply that criticism.

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

I can't see the reason why the X15 and X18 should be removed though. X15 and X18 lost their importance when the AM services were cut. If anything, they in its current form were relief services for Ryde-Henley rather than express services for Denistone East that still maintain the 297 Umm, why did t...

501 extends to Parramatta so there are other options. After 501 is re-routed, 500X is the only available bus route in this section. Hmm, I see what you are saying. Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

I can see some merit in these changes but they do not work for me. I can't see the reason why the X15 and X18 should be removed though. I can't see where the stopping patterns are explained. Surely it wouldn't make sense for the 500X to use all stops West Ryde<->Top Ryde then very widely spaced stop...

A dead-set porkie to say that this will be able to move more than light rail. It will be a rerun of the Ottawa experience in the long term, but no doubt it will be adequate for some time to come. What do you mean? The system already carries more people than light rail IIRC. They didn't need Brisban...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

We know the normal timetable for the 373 and 374 but, out of interest, how long do these services normally take to get from Randwick to their northern CBD terminus in peaks? Irrelevant question. In peaks these are supplemented by the X73, X74 and X77 services. 11 minutes to Bent St in the AM, 18 to...
