Re: Ex London buses

I believe Melbourne City Sightseeing did have a sixth Titan but this was used for parts and never operated. Also, see theaviary.com.au - that is T51, even more "butchered about"! Belonged to a guy in Perth who did private hires as a sideline to his main job for many years before being sell...

Re: (UK) Serious crash removing the roof of a decker. Big OO

It is indeed an ex-Dublin Volvo Olympian - S874 OHN belonging to Compass Royston (originally Dublin Bus RV465: 99-D-465). The Irish must think us Brits are terrible drivers - this is the third or fourth Dublin Olympian to be de-roofed since being shipped back to the UK, whereas none of them ever suf...

Re: General - South Island (Part 2)

I don't suppose you have any pictures of the old girls? Are any not converted to motor homes? The Nissans were pretty funky also, though they didn't make it onto the St Clair/Normanby run very often so my memories of riding them are limited - it was mainly Panthers with a few Leopards (often after ...

Re: General - South Island (Part 2)

Biqua was right when he said that the Dunedin Panthers were unique - they had the first (only?) bus bodies bult by Elmslie. Surely one is worthy of preservation...? I believe I know the current whereabouts of 8 out of the 10 of them. If anyone has any knowledge of the missing ones, 146 & 148, an...

Re: Inspectors Road Trip (11)

As the Inspector was sensible enough to also photograph its bodybuilder's plate, we can indentify from the body number that it was, in fact, new as Perth 970.

I will be in Victoria for a few days soon. Would anyone who knows where I would find any surviving Leyland Panthers, Nationals or B21's be kind enough to PM me with their locations. Thanks.

Re: The Leyland National

Deanes 5013 is absolutely correct. It rang a bell with me immediately and I have just dug out a photocopy of an article in the British "Design" magazine on the Leyland National when it was first launched. After devoting four pages to the vehicle, the final paragraph reads "It was some...

Deanes Leyland B21

Deanes B21 was reported as being in use as a shed on the road leading to the depot in Queanbeyan about 4 or 5 years ago. Does anybody know (a) if it's still there, and (b) if it is/was still in Deanes livery?

Re: HCVC at Sandown (22/11/09).

The two rusting shells at the back of the depot at Dalby were still there in February this year, and still wearing the remains of their just recognisable Caboolture livery. They are chassis numbers 02106 and 02482.

Re: Ex Forest Leyland Panther. Now a Camper.

It was in fact new in 1967 as Manchester 106 in the UK with an MCW body, as Windy correctly states, and is one of three of that batch which were rebodied by Custom Coaches whilst owned by Forest Coach Lines in the early 80's. Another is still in use by Casula Bus & Coach in Sydney. Does anyone k...

Nationals/Panthers/B21's in QLD

A few years ago a Leyland National, ex-Ansett Airlines, was reported heading to far north QLD, possibly to become some sort of school bus in Cairns. Does anyone know exactly where it is now or who owns it, or of the current locations of any other Nationals, Panthers or B21's in use as motorhomes, etc?
