Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

hornetfig wrote:Central to Moore Park shuttles running from next Monday, 25 May to service the Moore Park carpark. They'll run 10am - 7pm, for some reason.
I guess the logic is, prior to 10am there is sufficient parking in the CBD, and post that the overflow car park is required.

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

Obsessed with UNSW students? It's merely a simple fact that they represent a major chunk of the line's patronage. CSELR, with its higher capacity than a bus system, has four objectives: 1. As a CBD circulator in a framework of pedestrianisation of the CBD. 2. As an event feeder for Moore Park and R...

Re: Pull cord activated next stop buzzers

There was a time about 50 or 60 years ago when people in Sydney and surrounds caught a bus would have to pull a cord to activate the buzzer to request the next stop. When did the button activated buzzer come in and when was a bus with a next cord pull stop requesting buzzer built Not just 50 or 60 ...

Re: AIRPORT EXPRESS BUS

Staff working at the airport get a pretty good deal with the weekly cap. I disagree. I make 3-4 return trips a week to the airport for work (full time) and I pay $1500 a year more, $31 per week, than if I travelled to the CBD. Hardly a good deal, but unfortunately the best means of getting to the d...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

A lot of comments here about the journey time being so long to and from Randwick, maybe some thoughts to my below observations: I was a UNSW student full time a bit over 10 years ago, and a frequent rider of 891 bus to and from Eddy Avenue: -0900 lecture, arrive at Central by train at 750, join queu...

Now these vehicles are being used with a route number, it forms part of our regular public transport system. These vehicles don’t meet the requirements for the disability standards for accessible public transport act 2002, I wonder how long until there is until a discrimination case is brought forwa...

Re: NSW On Demand Buses

Transdev Link is changing from tomorrow:

- One big zone instead of the four current zones, also expanded to include Kareela, Oyster Bay and Kirrawee.
- Weekday hours extended to 0600-2000 but reduced on weekends to 1000-1600
- Fares still $2.60 but only up to 3km, then $4.30 for longer journeys.

Re: Timetable Changes (2 Dec 2018)

Yes you're right. The 1:15am and 2:20am services have been shafted but on Friday and Saturday nights. As well as the 10:53pm service on all weeknights. I think that's a disappointing move for public transport operating hours, mainly the last service now leaving for Bangor and Menai at 9:30pm instead...

Re: Timetable Changes (2 Dec 2018)

Looks like tonight will be the last night of late night services on the combined 961/962. Even on weekdays the late service has been canned. I’m guessing low patronage but does anyone in the know know more? Seems a backward step to me reducing operational hours, 9:30pm for a last service is pretty w...

Re: Timetable Changes (Dec 2)

Two good changes announced by Transdev on their website for 961/962.

- Both routes no longer travelling to Cronulla on weekends (such a stupid idea in the first place - train right next to it is so much faster)

- 962 will travel to east hills after padstow and no longer bankstown.

Re: NSW On Demand Buses

Bridj could be expanding its services in the bea future, rumours involve the Rockdale / Brighton / Kyeemagh areas. It would be interesting if the 479 could be modified as a result. I doubt services would be modified, after a year of on demand buses in the Sutherland shire there would have been huge...

There area already several of the new Lime Bikes around the Mascot station precinct, sans helmet.

Re: Laborransport policy for next election

This policy makes me angry. If Mr Daley travelled by his train to the Blue Mountains with his family (which I doubt he ever will) on a Sunday, he will only pay $10.80 already. Why should those who choose to have children be given a benefit at the expense of those who do not/can not. The rest of us h...

Re: NSW On Demand Buses

I still stand by my earlier claims, in relation to my experience with Transdev on demand, there is a severe limitation with the software stopping on demand buses from being profitable (or not as un-profitable). Before I start saying what's wrong with it, I must start by saying that every time I have...

I usually walk or catch the bus to the supermarket. Take 2 x blue chiller bags on bus, I filled with bottles and cans. Get off at Menai marketplace, get refund, walk to Woolworths, get back on bus home. No problem. A bit of added exercise to my shop and $1.50ish refund every week. If I get back on t...

I am only going by the material published, but I read it as being the 7 nearby stations to Sydenham, not 7 stations in every direction.

The 7 closest stations to Sydenham are likely Tempe, Wolli Creek, St Peters, Erskineville, Marrickville, Dulwich Hill and Hurlstone Park.

Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?

If M92 did not exist, I would not have taken public transport to work at Bankstown from my home in Sutherland. But I don't think metrobus was a success at all. They could have called M92 whatever they wanted, to me it was just a new bus route. It had a timetable, and often had to sit at Menai and Pa...

Re: Sydney commuters get chance to trial on-demand buses

The boundaries are extremely inflexible when using the app to make a booking (my street is out of the zone but the cross street is not). Perhaps at driver discretion or by calling Transdev direct exceptions can be made.

It’s due to start in 3 days and still no app available nor online booking form. I’m surprised it wasn’t released earlier.

Saw four of the sprinter vans at Taren Point depot in an interesting silver and blue colour scheme.
