Why do they do that? New trains only? Testing of some sort?

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

The 05:32 from Penrith Tangara that headed to the city only had staff members in the front unit as the guard was working from the Rear of the front Tangara is this normal to not have any safety crititcal staff in a unit?? No, it's not normal - though if this was the 5:32am service I doubt anyone bu...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Croydon station platform 1 (Down Main) will be getting some use tonight due to trackwork. Not often that this happens, even rarer than 2 and 3. In fact, I can't recall ever using platform 1 when I used to use that station. Platform 1 Croydon makes no sense, because it can only serve the down line. ...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

BTW an Uber to Asquith Station is only about $12 from Hornsby, taxi $14-16. I've done it multiple times before.

Re: Extra Lane Cove Services as from next Monday

Those living "in the Cove" are always a bit up themselves, and think that Chatswood is theirs exclusively. In fact it's so sloppily written it's riddled with rubbish (worse than errors): https://i.imgur.com/mUoPDrD.jpg [emoji848] Maybe they need a geography lesson... And a spelling lesson...

Re: Extra Lane Cove Services as from next Monday

Hang on: Chatswood to Lane Cove rail closure? There was never a line to begin with! Last time I checked, the rail line passes through North Ryde, unless it magically moved?

Consultation only.
Where's it say that? I read it as they're going to be taking feedback at public stands - like outside a bunch of Woolies stores.

Re: What will replace the 14.5 metre buses?

This is a problem with the Government's double decker plan - they need to recognise they can't just all of a sudden stop ordering articulated buses. Unfortunately, in real life, double deckers can't go everywhere - so I guess they'll just have to order more artics to replace both ageing 14.5m and ot...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Well, Melbourne managed to change its eponymous Spencer St for a meaningless Southern Cross. Central isn't really central anymore. Maybe call it Haymarket? The thing is, Sydney doesn't really have a pattern to it's inner-city stations. Wynyard - landmark (?) Town Hall - landmark Central - "wel...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Noticed a clip on TV news over the weekend that Gladys/Andrew is "considering changing the name of Central Station to reflect its new role as a transport hub". Guess they might sell naming rights, like they do for stadiums. Is Central not Central enough now? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using ...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

C Set was delayed due to vandalism at Circular Quay for 5 minutes around 5pm. Got to Wynyard and platforms 5 & 6 were pretty much full. Hadn't started using the gates at the top of the stairs just yet, but 5 more minutes would make it happen. You'd think those who complain the most about the tra...

Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed

Remember part of this new standard Waratah design is to make the network less complicated. If the fleet consisted of only Waratah trains, including the new Intercity, then everything would just be easier than it is now. Drivers and guards wouldn't need to learn all these different trains, because th...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Although I can agree the service wasn't as organised as it should've been, I can say that staff and customers did a fantastic job. Despite the madness and hot weather (most buses didn't have aircon) everyone was very forgiving and patient. Transdev had their unused older buses from Mt Kuring-gai on,...
