Re: The last manual route buses in Sydney

Baxters fleet of Bedfords in the 1980s would have been largely manuals.

Western Road Bus Service had a fleet of Volvo B6FA route buses purchased in 1984.
Were these manuals?

Karen and Heath at Fairfield also had a fleet of manual Bedfords on route work for many years.

Assuming these buses have recently been transferred to Glendenning, this would mean that 272, 273 and 325 were returning to their original depot from 22 years ago.

One was operated by Randwick and ran on a special route that ran past various major pubs and clubs around Coogee between midnight and...

Re: Private Bus Observations 2020

I can’t see how, simply, providing all drivers with surgical gloves wouldn’t largely alleviate the need for the constant washing of hands. Either have open boxes of them at each depot, or even put a box on the dashboard of each bus. Many mechanics in workshops seem to do this these days, for general...

Are you sure your bus has a Comair body.

There were a few of them made around 1978 when Comair resumed building bus bodies again briefly.

However if that is a photo of your bus, it would be an Ansair body of the same vintage.

Has Customs started building the new Endeavour bodies yet?

Is there still just the sole unit out there?

What are they currently building on their assembly line at the moment?

Re: AIRPORT EXPRESS BUS

I think you will find that the Airport Express was deliberately killed off by Government interference. The service had been provided by the STA since around 1983 and operated out of Port Botany depot. It operated for about 16 to 18 hours per day and ran seven days per week. The bright yellow/blue/bl...

A few little timetable quirks .... 1. Yep, nice easy timetable..with outbound frequency on a weekday being every 15 minutes from 0500 till 0700, then every 10 minutes for the next 11 hours ...so far so good...., then we get a solitary trip that starts one minute earlier ie 1809. Re: Private Observations 2019

Actually, the smaller Seven Hills depot is quite unique. With a strength of 33 buses, 29 of them are identical Volvo B10BLEs with CB60 bodies, with the remaining four being Scania K94s with Volgren bodies. So if you are currently standing at a bus stop in suburban Seven Hills waiting for the next bu...

Re: Victorian bus company changes.

Christian's existing fleet = 168

Bacchus Marsh Coaches = 97

Goldbus = 69

New total = 334

Christian's have just gone from being a medium fish, in terms of Victorian operations, to a big one.

The only ones bigger than them now would be Ventura-883, Transdev-567, CDC-539, Dysons-515 and Dineen-481.

If wikipedia can be believed, yourbus have ceased operating bus routes in the UK on five occasions in the past eight years.

It may well be just another case of them re-directing their services into another area of that market.

I maintain that there is no clear evidence of anything out of the ordinary at this point. Sure, shutting a bus company down without notice is not a good look, but, from memory, yourbus a few years ago did stop operating on one route in the UK with little or no warning, then commenced on a different ...

With regard to the sale/split up of Donric, ABC with it's typical lack of clarity, leaves me still unsure of who owns what. They didn't even make mention of Bacchus Marsh or Goldbus in the article. So, do Christian's now own Goldbus and Bacchus Marsh Coaches? Does the remaining Donric family shareho...
