Re: WA Transport General Discussion & Questions

I used to do a morning 16 into the city at about 6:50. It would always get a seated load before it joined the 60, then would be full standing load by Walcott St. I also remember doing 16’s on a Saturday, into and out of the city 5 minutes behind a 60 with only a couple of old ladies on board if any...

Re: WA Transport General Discussion & Questions

Route 16 was officially removed on August 25, 2019, although being a Mon-Fri route, it had its last service on August 23. Poor patronage was cited (through the Transperth strategy of 'death by a thousand cuts'). Given the 16's proximity to more direct (<500m from the 60, 67 & Alexander Dr servi...

Re: Obscure & forgotten services/other - who remembers?

Metrobus' website had a signifcant amount of route maps and timetables that I've dug up that cover basically just 1997, but they are quite extensive given how much of the network they covered. It features many routes that I wasn't able to find through TP's website (because it doesn't seem possible ...

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021

All 4 of them were last seen in Malaga. 1566 is at Morley still, 1567 and 68 are at Redcliffe. Can't remember where 1724 ended up, I want to say Redcliffe too but not certain on that one. Things move around a little bit due to servicing but currently 1568 and 1724 are @ Malaga and 1566/67 are @ Red...

Noticed that the Volvo service centre in Welshpool on Furnace road has closed Yes, they've permanently moved to their new location in Forrestfield, with the move being completed last weekend. Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2020

1566 seen on 60 earlier this evening. Thought it got killed by 2780? While 2780 has been registered, pretty sure it hasn't been delivered yet. That said, I think 1566-68 were technically replaced already by 2776-2778, but the NHs are sticking around for a little bit longer. 2780 hasn’t been deliver...

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2020

I imagine you meant 65 Renault artics :) Don't forget the 7 MAN SG292Hs and lone SG192H demonstrator - a total of 106 high floor artics operated by Transperth. Yes, I didn't realise I had missed 47 artics (the number did feel pretty low), turns out Perthbus has two 'new buses' entries for the PR180...

Its a pity it’s not already along way past the planning stage. I don’t understand how 2 billion dollars can be spent in Canberra to service a population of 400,000 people with only a small percentage of that who it actually really services?? I’m sure I’ll be long dead and buried before any tram serv...

Re: Limited stops bus routes in Perth

I can see the point about the simplification but that doesn't mean that all stops is a part of the success of the 950. It is from a legibility perspective and being able to provide a higher frequency to a larger catchment. What was previously five routes running different lengths of Beaufort St is ...

Re: Limited stops bus routes in Perth

Trains can't go everywhere. There is room for limited stops services in almost every city. The 950 would be a case in point. The 950 is a success BECAUSE it's an all-stop service. The 66 in peak hour would still benefit from being an Express service instead of limited stops. The few Limited Stops s...

Re: Next generation railcars for Transperth

I saw a program a few weeks ago about some new trains in Japan that had extra doors that were only used in the peak times. In between peak extra seats slid down from up neat the roof and blocked the doors. In peak the seat slid up and provided extra doors and standing space. Pretty cool

Route 19 - Weeknight services have been cut with the last bus departing Yokine at 7pm (previously 11pm) and Perth Busport at 9:30pm (previously 11:30pm). No doubt this is du...

Re: WA Transport General Discussion & Questions - 2017

Unless the shifts are rostered to only do 950's it would be nearly impossible to have all 950's run with artics. At the moment some shifts do only one 950 per shift some do 4 or more. Still be a good idea if there were 20 artics (10 for PATH and 10 for Swan) and put them on shifts with mostly 950's ...

I agree the 67/68's are under-utilised along Beaufort St outbound because people do tend to pile on the 950.

Re: Route 950: Morley - Beaufort St - Perth - UWA - QEII

Interesting ideas Mr OC. I think the 67 should still travel to the city. Many many pax hop on at many points down Beaufort St and head to Mirrabooka or Dianella. The 68 being a not-so-frequent service could travel to Maylands maybe?
