Re: Tram destination signs

A, B2, C and Z3 class trams utilise Hanover headboard equipment, however the systems that control those units are different. The rollout of Hanover headboard equipment took place with the A and Z3 class trams in the mid-2000s, and B2, C trams progessively from 2015. The external Hanover headboards o...

Re: Transdev Melbourne news January - June 2016

Is a bus taken out of service if night soil is visible to other passengers? What about other bodily fluids? Yes it is. I once was kicked off a 902 at Eltham when a number 2 was reported on the back seat. Presumably any bodily fluids would (rightly) be considered a health risk to passengers and staf...

Re: ex Hong Kong bus, with Z1/3s in 2001 (from Jeff)

The rego for the bus in question is RDG688, which was City Sightseeing #102 , a 1983 MCW Metrobus Mk II. In it's former life, it was New World First Bus ML38 , which was transferred from China Motor Bus in 1998 after the demise of the CMB franchise. The vehicle was shipped out from Hong Kong to Aust...

Re: All other Victorian Bus news August - December 2015

I'd hazard a guess that it's for Melbourne Airport.

Looking closely at the first image, the grab railings in the doors and on the front bulkhead are unpainted. Can't think of any suburban operators that have ordered buses without colour contrasting poles lately.

Not sure if we're reporting tram repaints here, but I saw a B class on Elizabeth Street a few days ago in PTV green, the first I've seen! Would that make it at least one of each class of tram (apart from W) that's been put into PTV? I got a pretty miserable photo of it if anyone's interested. There...

Kew Depot carries out maintenance on Camberwell's trams at the depot. Was probably just a transfer.

Good to see they're finally making use of the information system that has been on these trams since 2001! Ran into C.3027 about a half hour later at the corner of Victoria and Nicholson Streets, it appears to be a complete overhaul of the Passenger Information systems on board. At the number 1 end,...

Could they have run two As to replace a defective B? You know, to emulate capacity? They were running one behind another just coming into peak so there could be many reasons why. Short answer: no. Running an extra tram means that the depot needs to organise an extra driver (or drivers, depending on...
