Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
The point of running the metrobus between Pennant Hills and Hornsby is somewhat limited, because the train is quicker. Except that you can go directly from Pennant Hills to Waitara, the bus is quicker for that. The train change from the northern line to the north shore line at Hornsby seems to be ma...

Re: 2017 Train & Bus timetable changes
Sigh.... built in dwell times again. When you get on a train about 20 minutes before midnight at Museum and want to make a quick trip to Town Hall Woolies (and have an almost elapsed transfer on Opal). Train to Homebush made a dwell at Circular Quay. Not 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 3 - 4 minutes of sit...

Re: NSW Railway Observations - December 2017
I will be interesting to see if the metro actually goes as fast as you claim it will. And I wonder how many people will really want to stand on the train for two hours a day, to save 10 minutes. If your time is really that valuable, you should be earning enough to live closer to the CBD than Schofie...

Re: New Year's Eve (and holiday period) transport
Don't forget some drivers (NO they are only "SWA" if you have done rail with any of them you know who I mean) are morons and would arrive at the starting point after their departure time and out of sequence, and on the first trip it is always fun to find which stand you should be using. B...

Re: New Year's Eve (and holiday period) transport
Without seeing the actual route details one can only make an assumption, Gordon Terminators would most like stop at the bus interchange at the railway station, if the e Express to Central was to make such a detour I estimate it would add 10minutes to the journey with a similar slow down if Chatswoo...

I am sure whatever happens there will be sufficient instructions (for those who care to look at them) If you have done "rail" before you will understand You're joking, right ? According to the transportnsw.info site ( which most customers won't see _), there are 4 train replacement bus ro...

Re: New Year's Eve (and holiday period) transport
For northbound traveller to the central coast, the time when your bus will get to Berowra will probably be entirely random, and out of either the customers nor the bus operators ability to control. That is going to mean that people going to most of the stations between Cowan and Ourimbah will be loi...

Re: Printed timetable/map information in Sydney?
It is also sometimes difficult to find out where bus stops actually are, as more and more of them get abolished. Most of them appear on google maps. They all have a six-digit number, which doesn't seem to be very useful as they don't appear on the actual bus stop and they don't seem to appear online...

Re: Printed timetable/map information in Sydney?
There is a map of the rail network on every train station and in nearly all the train carriages. In addition, at most stations there is a street map for the area about 2 miles wide in a circle around the station. These are often very useful to find out how to walk to the location you are actually go...

It does seem rather pointless that they built the 4 tracks and don't use them. But I only go there on weekends.

Re: Wollongong Rt. 55 Commenced Service & Split into 55A/C
Glad to hear you're so fit and active and have no trouble with hills in heat, humidity or rain, with shopping, wheelchair or infant in tow. Good on you! One of the issues that had been frequently raised by the public in relation to this controversy is the climb to Wollongong hospital which was thou...

Re: Wollongong Rt. 55 Commenced Service & Split into 55A/C
The very reason for the 55's route is that the activities that are more geographically concentrated in other cities are a bit more spread out in Wollongong and need to be drawn together: the waterfront, the hospital, Innovation campus, P+R, university, botanical gardens. It serves the same function...

Re: Wollongong Rt. 55 Commenced Service & Split into 55A/C
By allowing enough time to park for classes, they are encouraged to jump in the car instead of using the massive amount of PT options that serve Macquarie Uni. Seen how clogged Herring Rd is with bus services, while many students simply choose to drive anyway? Public transport to Macquarie exists, ...

It would be cheaper for them to print one and mail it to you, when you call, instead of printing 500,000 of the wrong ones and then throwing them away later.
There is probably only a couple of hundred people who will ask.

Re: New Year's Eve (and holiday period) transport
From the upper level at Gordon, there are about 12 steps down, and then there are the long ramps to the right and left leading towards the pedestrian crossings. Otherwise, you can take the elevator down to the almost disused platform 1, and then the confusing ramp through the shrubbery down to the s...

Re: New Year's Eve (and holiday period) transport
IIRC, last time there was a shut down like this, we dropped at Gordon Station (interchange) ran empty under the railway line into Werona Ave, (pick-up zone) then left into Park and right onto the highway, but that was a few years back before all the changes were made at Gordon Station. Nothing wron...

Re: New Year's Eve (and holiday period) transport
You would save a lot of time going directly by the freeway from Berowra to Gordon. Having "limited stops" services seems rather pointless when in most cases ( like Asquith, Mt Colah etc ) the road is right next to the station and it would take only 15 seconds to stop for a few people to ge...

Re: Chatswood - two questions....
Chatswood has been a "wayfinding" fail for a long time. The signage pointing to the stands is wrong. The arrows on the big square totem pole point the wrong way. As you approach from the train, the kerb on the side pointing north is cleverly bent out of sight so that you cannot easily see ...
