Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
Any news on the F10 ferry? Local MP has confirmed on Facebook that it will remain: https://www.facebook.com/GreensJamieParker/posts/672825880888899 He's only been talking about an extension to Annandale, not aware of any plans to add a stop in Pyrmont. I guess it makes sense though, and with the si...

Re: NSW Bus Observations 2022.
It's complicated. In most cases, the last two days of Term 4 are staff development days, as are the first two days of Term 1 and the first day of Term 2/3. Pretty sure all public schools do follow the published dates.

Re: Railway Observations for 2022.
I've been doing some investigating into why the 12:51pm T5 service from Schofields and the return 2:33pm T5 service from Leppington is a Waratah and that reason is because T1 roster 160 whitch is rostered as a Waratah turns into T5 roster 560 between 9:42am and 3:43pm that's according to the info t...

Re: Railway Observations for 2022.
Accents a separate issue which has been around for at least 30 years. The more noticeable trend now is the proliferation of professionally recorded announcements throughout the trip. On London buses, you get an announcement for every single stop, even on an all stops service. Yet to see this here. ...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
Not sure the light rail actually runs to a timetable. I think the displays at stops estimate based on the location of the next tram, as I've seen them stop ticking when the tram is dwelling at Central or Dulwich Hill.

Re: Do you get provided with a guide of where bus stops are?
^ The THOREB can do announcements. It was formerly used on all the Metrobus routes (of course excluding the private ones). It gradually fell out of use as the announcements were never updated for route changes (e.g. M10 diverting away from Town Hall, the addition of the Lyminge Rd stop on the M41).

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
Back to the card. Opal needs to get their act together as far as top ups are concerned. Only a very few top up machines take cash; the majority are by card only. This is simply dumb and stupid. Which brings another question, with so many outlets often being far away from stations, why can't we go b...

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
As I understood the thought was RPOs would take you at your word that you had tapped on, but when everything synced at the end of the night, if no journey had been recorded on that card, then they would issue a fine. One of the reasons (along with immediate fare feedback which helps you catch any i...

One of the problems is that the Citadis are actually narrower than the Urbos 3. It's not a massive gap, but enough that wheelchairs would not be able to board without a ramp. They could install gap fillers (the moving type), but it'd likely be very expensive.

Re: Private Bus Observations 2021
I caught several TSA R6 buses today. I'd estimate only about 20% of buses have readers turned off. You can see this in Anytrip - buses with Opal turned off are greyed out on the departure board and don't show their realtime location. I saw someone said on Facebook a memo was sent around warning of a...

Re: Sydney Rail T8 from the South via Airports to the City
1. Platform 1 2. T2 towards Homebush/Parramatta/Leppington Previously, T8 was simply classified as part of T2. Doesn't it just reverse direction and either run to Revesby or McArthur? It is not possible for a train coming from the Airport to run around the City Inner and then return to the Airport....

Re: Sydney Metro Train Numbers?
The metro trains have this sort of set up for the train numbers 1NN-NN , where "N" is a number, eg: 106-23 Would I be correct in that the metro numbers are similar to NSW suburban numbers where one set is assigned number 1nn for the day, but instead of letters for the next run, it's just ...

Nothing too interesting however I might as well document is that I've seen a bunch of Hunter Valley buses running around using the incorrect destination sign layout. Instead of it appearing as big text that is sized to the entire board, it's just a small bit of text on the left hand side of the scr...

^ The extra app is just because the developer accidentally pushed the wrong version of the app to the app store. Everyone makes mistakes and they'll probably remove it in the next update.

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020
It would be a safety hazard if people were to be intentionally locked in their individual carriage and unable to move to other parts of the train, especially in the event of an emergency. This isn't a problem since the door can be released using the EDR panel or by opening the panel on the bottom h...

These are for places where there isn't enough space for a full height one. For example, they have some at Rockdale station because there is a low awning over it.

Route pointer for Rte. 9 at Canterbury
While walking through Canterbury recently, I spotted this sign at the intersection of King and John Sts, facing eastbound traffic on King St:
Just wondering which route is this sign for? sydneybusroutes.com does list several route 9's, but none of them go past Canterbury.- Wed Nov 27, 2019 10:44 pm

The network looked pretty messed up today with a fatality at Toongabbie and a medical emergency at Central during the afternoon peak. Platforms 7/8 at Strathfield were so packed that people were backing up onto the ramp. Luckily I was able to get a bus at Strathfield instead.

Some delays on T1/9/CCN/BMT today due to a fallen tree on the overhead on the Up Main at Newtown. All intercity services were diverted on the Suburban, which caused some congestion. An up T9 service skipped Eastwood and Denistone to make up time, which annoyed a lot of people at Epping (20-30 minute...

Spotted TSA's new bus 8093 in service today at Campsie on a 412. It has a different window arrangement to the other STA buses, with no black edges on the windows and full height glass at the back, similar to STA's 4878.

Re: STA Privatisation / Franchising
Fare evasion is obviously a significant issue. I haven't seen any transit officers in Region 9 since the old Moore Park Busway closed, and before that I would occasionally see them at the rest break lay over at Robertson Road but never anywhere else. I doubt that it has such a large effect on patro...
