Re: Veolia Improvements - public consultation stage 2

Timetables are now up on the TransLink website. From first glance the changes don't seem to be as bad as I first thought, at least they seem to have got the connections right for the most part, even putting up the full ferry timetables on a couple of the routes that are scheduled to connect with the...

Re: Veolia Improvements - public consultation stage 2

What about the customers that rode from Thorneside/Molle Rd in on the 243? Onto the trains for them... Having ridden the 243 several times this year, once you get out of the Manly West section of the route, there are very few customers (if any) in the Thorneside section, hence its' realignment to r...

More common than one might think. There's another example of multiple Google cars in Cleveland St, Chippendale -> http://goo.gl/maps/GP3sg and there's even a Google Street View of a bottle shop in Pendle Hill! http://goo.gl/maps/1H1UH

Re: SEQ bus network review

Continuing on the Veolia line of things, it's quite interesting to see the difference between suburbs on the fringe of the BT area (Thorneside, Birkdale) vs. the other side of the council line (Wynnum, Manly, Lota). I'd not be expecting any increases to frequency and unfortunately that's not going ...

Why the heck would I want to catch that route, when there is a whole range of routes servicing the same streets and busway!  BCC are absolutely stupid and you can straight away tell that it's just a political route to grab some votes and probably appease those (there wouldn't be many on...

Re: Up in Roma Street

The 88 is not an authorized route for tags, tags are never run printed on 88's, there was no dispatch on when the driver got this bus and there was plenty of rigids sitting in the yard. Sorta reminds me of when a Veolia driver I once knew, took a pie cart on route 250 during peak hour, even though ...

Is there a list of what services are bound to be cut? 10 News also mentioned the 652, 643 and the Browns Plains Loop (whatever that is!) There's a list of the lowest performing bus routes. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/worst-performing-bus-routes-revealed-20120724-22mck.html * 652: Cab...

Re: SE Qld bus services facing the axe.

stop the 250 at carindale and use the extra buses for a better service in the redlands. there are so many services that go to the city from carindale they don't need the 250 going there aswell That wouldn't really work even though on paper at least it would make sense. Route 250 I catch a lot and i...

Re: Hyperdome / Springwood / City problems

I think the 250 should just go to Capalaba. Split beyond Capalaba into another bus route and increase the Cleveland train frequency too. You'd be hard pressed selling that to the locals out here, the 250 has been known to carry fully seated well beyond Capalaba on the outbound. In the morning peak ...

Re: Timing point

I'd think heading inbound there shouldn't be any timing points: West of Capalaba on O-C Rd East of Kenmore on Moggill Rd Chermside and south on Gympie Rd/INB Coopers Camp Rd and in Kelvin Grove Rd You get the idea. It shouldn't be up to the drivers' discretion which timing points make sense to adhe...

Re: Veolia Improvements - public consultation stage 2

Implementation is due in February, and I suspect the next round of 'consultation' will be sometime in January. I say that loosely as the vibe I got from the Planners is that they had already had made up their minds of the changes and were just going through the motions of having to do the consultati...

I noticed 247 had an 'Evacuate Bus' sign at the front, near the driver with what appeared to be an out of service fire alarm style setup. Is this something new?

Does anyone know if the decker will be running next week and what runs it will be doing at what times? Will it be running on the same runsheet as this week? I'm keen on getting on board and checking it out, and will shotgun for the top deck front seat! Unfortunately due to uni and other commitments ...

Re: Abolishing fixed fares at rear door go card readers

I thought both front of bus scanners were equal. Are you saying that they aren't? According to the information we received from Translink (as drivers), Card Reader 1 (the one nearest the driver) is the only one you can touch off on at the same stop and avoid being charged a one zone fare. All the o...

Re: Changes to Fares and Ticketing in 2012.

How about the actual paper ticket price hike. Does this government realise that the average person (who catches public transport) gets about a 4% pay increase each year, yet they (the government) have commissioned a 15% fare hike. So for someone who drives to Chermside to catch a bus to the RBH for...

Re: Veolia Improvements - public consultation stage 2

Ah, thanks Jerram for that insight. I thought for a second there that TL had budgeting problems (which they probably do in regards to getting more buses for Veolia). The shortening of route 255 is my biggest bugbear and they think that they can just extend the 254 and make people who would normally ...

Re: Changes to Fares and Ticketing in 2012.

That doesn't have anything to do with it. It wouldn't cancel because it only cancels if you use the driver's reader, not the reader on the other side of the door, which is the one you'd have to use. You've lost me completely. Incorrect - you can cancel your touch on as long as the reader is set for...

Re: British man faces deportation over go card

bus changes were a daily occurence at Veolia ;) Not just for breakdowns (of which there were some every day) but also when the depot "ran out of" low floors to allocate to afternoon X+Y+Route 250/279/280/281 shifts. I remember starting an inbound 250 from Reddy Bay Marina in the Austral A...

Re: Interesting Question About GoCard

I was not doubting there are full-time university students who work. My point is really that there seems to be a lot of full-time workers travelling on student Go-Cards and as TTOs are very rarely seen on BT buses, especially in peak hour, are part-time students fraudently using student Go-Cards in...

Re: Eastern busway routes

It would be, but only if my master plan of having the 200/203/204 bypassing Woolloongabba isn't proceeded with! How many times have I said in this thread (and others) that the 'Gabba diversion should be removed? In answer to your question though, I don't use the 250/270 often. There is still decent...

Re: Eastern busway routes

Hmm, the "city loop" map shows all routes heading via the Captain Cook bridge, but the 250/270 jpg shows heading via South Bank. I agree it's good move to get rid of the Gabba, but there is a need for reasonable alternatives. With the 280, after travelling all that distance, it may be wor...

Re: Eastern busway routes

If you non stop between Buranda and the CBD, then to get to the Gabba you must interchange somewhere along Old Cleveland Rd for the 200/203/204 (on present routes). Won't this get a huge backlash? Easy, transfer onto a 111, 120, 160, 170, 180 at Buranda, then transfer at Mater Hill. Or transfer at ...

Re: Eastern busway routes

Well, what an interesting set of proposals... Firstly, I don't like the idea of cutting the 255 short to Wellington Point station, there's a number of oldies who travel from Birkdale to Malborough Rd and a few (oldies and students alike) who travel from along Birkdale Rd to Cleveland. So, I wouldn't...

Re: Return paper tickets for Brisbane Exhibition (Ekka)

I would not be advocating a return of paper tickets, they are a complete nuisance and outdated form of a ticketing system. They add time to boarding and are more likely to be used in fare evasion (ie: attempting to use a paper ticket outside of the zones allowed/paid for), among many other drawbacks...

Re: Veolia improvements

You guys had better go look at the I/b side of Old Cleveland Road at Main Street and tell me what you find there. Here's a hint: a white J pole with a 203, 204 and 250 timetable affixed. It most certainly wasn't a white J pole back in 2008 when the new service pattern was drawn up. However, I think...
