In my honest opinion, the 901 should have been kept as a Frankston - Ringwood service.
I don't believe the Orbital bus routes really deliver the benefits that were intended with their implementation.

Re: Ventura - Mercedes
Thanks Mick. Why the change ?? I believe some concerns have been raised about the reliability of some of the older Volvo B7RLE vehicles, some of which have required major engine overhauls at less than the 500,000km mark. These 5 Mercedes buses are initially a trial purchase and they are being monito...

Re: Sandringham enhanced timetable
I understand they are already using drop-on drivers at Sandringham in the peaks. Despite being one of the shorter lines, about 5 AM peak trains breach the load standards (see PTV stats ) - Frankston Line fluctuates but is overall on par, while Dandenong has about 12 AM peak trains overcrowded. Just...

Correct. I remember a few years ago, myself along with around 8 of my colleagues from Grenda Charter were doing a job for a special events company at the Melbourne Cup. We were all parked up in the bus area when the compliance officers from Transport Safety Victoria rolled up to do a blitz. They di...

I am guessing the operators caught up in this were most likely of Chinese origin and servicing the inbound tourism market.

Re: 2018 Melbourne Bus Contracts
The 2013 contracts have demonstrated that Melbourne people are inherently dirty creatures. Just look at the buses concerned and the areas they pass through. Will new or revised operations be able to keep vehicles clean? Why worry about facts when hyperbole is so much more interesting? :D Interestin...

For two people that would add up to $152 return. More than two weeks of long term parking. Re: Try before you ride
Here is a novel idea. Why doesn't PTV just implement some kind of "single day" ticket so that people who are infrequent users or first time users can more comfortably use our public transport. This would include visitors to Victoria/tourists. The fact of the matter is, the lack of ability ...

Re: Blood-covered fighting men terrify bus passengers
The beauty of the eastern suburbs. It's a bit unfair to tarnish the whole of the Eastern Suburbs. The problem for the 901 route is that given it travels through Frankston, Dandenong, Ringwood, Greensborough, Roxburgh Park and Broadmeadows, it is basically a "Contiki tour" of all of ...

As Pokemon Go is all the rage this past couple of weeks, I noticed that quite a number of the kids on one of my school runs seemed to be buried in their phones on Monday afternoon of last week. The gimmicks will do bugger all to change people's behaviour. It reeks of being seen to do something when the desired end result is actually that nothing changes. That seems to be what all levels of politics is all about these days. Screw practical solutions, lets go for the gimmicks. This is quite...

I tend to agree with Krustyklo, for the most part in Melbourne, many bus routes would be adequate if they had a half hour frequency....including during the daylight hours on weekends at a minimum. There are some other routes with higher demand which could probably do with an upgrade to "Smartbu...
