Re: Once upon a time......... a mixed bag of photos.
Think I'll have to come up with some new photos. I still have boxes and boxes of bus slides that I've never scanned from the late '70's and the '80's. Time will catch up so I'd better pull my finger out or they'll be lost. Stay tuned ! This is believed to have been Centralian's last contribution. H...

Royle Bros. Austerity's.
I suppose it seems a bit unusual for this subject to resurface here again but i received an email from an enthusiast who had seen a facebook post with a couple of Ken Magor's photos of Royle Bros. austerity buses and he wondered why on one of the buses the route numbers had been painted in an unusua...

Re: Rego bus plates
Hi LB608, some info about your rego numbers from my records.
m/o 154 was an AEC half cab with Parramatta Bus Co.
MO 280 (Country rego) was a Toyota Arakawa mini bus with Harris of Tumut.
Cheers Dave.

m/o 4774 was a Syd Wood bodied AEC Half Cab with Seven Hills Passenger Service and came from Pioneer Coaches of Bexley. After service with them it went to a wreckers yard at Padstow. Hi Red and Cream Slightly off-topic. But I had never seen reference to "Vardys Road Bus Service". I am gue...

Were the White and Diamond T buses pictured above registered with E.H.Blyth. In my very early registration notes the bus shown as a White in GM's photos is registered as m/o 721. It was certainly in E H Blythe's fleet. Here is a Don Allitt photo of it at a Billy Graham Crusade at the old Sydney Sho...

Re: Once upon a time ........ Nicholson's Bus Service
A very unusual door arrangement with the front door behind the first axle, but a centre door ahead of the rear axle. My guess is the operator didn't like rear doors for safety reasons or revenue protection but required a second door to facilitate passenger flow during busy periods. Sinclair was cer...

While we're covering the northern districts, who was doing the 172 Eastwood to Parramatta in the 50s and 60s? Isn't it amazing that the granddaughter of the family who ran Cumberland Coaches who did the 172 until Ken Butt's takeover in 81, married the grandson of Ron Deane snr. They both operated t...

Hi everyone, It's been a long time since I last posted here. A while back (not sure how long), I read an article about a hotel which had bought an ex Sydney AEC Regent III. A driver told me how those demist bars struggled to fulfill their purpose on wet days leaving only small patches of clear glass to see where your were going. Was that your experience? The passenger cell probably wasn't exactly cosy unless the motor was the heater or there was a heater box for them....

I saw school kids creating a jet by putting a finger on the nozzle of that bubbler, trying to hit the overhead power lines. One did one day but survived, newly energised. I'm sure the bubblers must have been removed not long after that.. Yes they were overworked by school children. I must admit in ...

What a fantastic series of posts R&C! That Willoughby Worldmaster is quite a sight there. First time I've seen a pic of a second series body with those headlights. It changes it's look quite dramatically. I like it. I found the Worldmasters a great bus to drive with plenty of power to get away ...

A good read here learning that tidbit about Bradfield Park. Red and Cream 263 looked an "over chassised" bus for sure. Would it have had an 0600 combined with a synchro gearbox? I'm guessing those headlights weren't halogen haha! Must have had a pleasant golden glow at night, enough to ma...
